If you don’t already do engagement on your social platforms, then now’s the time to start.
Firstly, let’s talk the algorithm, social media engagement plays a huge part of how the algorithm works on all platforms. It’s simple, the more you engage, the more the algorithm drives people to your content. Comments, likes shares – it all plays a big part.
There are two different types of social media engagement, reactive and proactive, both are equally important. If someone comments on your post and you respond, this is called reactive engagement, as you are reacting to them.
Proactive is going out and commenting on other peoples posts, therefore being proactive.
One thing to remember with proactive engagement is don’t just put an emoji, compliment them, or spark a conversation.
Not only this, but having a lot of active engagement tells potential clients “we’re here” and “we are active” as well as telling current clients “we are up to date”.
As a social media marketer we have to be on the ball with all platform updates and if clients see we are active, well, it speaks for itself.
The people who are following you and the people/pages you are following are always the best place to engage, you can also search hashtags and location. It’s about getting your content seen, putting your business out there to attract more clients.
