What is Instagram Shopping?
Instagram Shopping allows you to tag your products in a range of content formats, including grid posts, stories, IGTV, reels and guides. Tagging your products means a user can click on the shopping tab and it will take them directly to that product on your website for them to make a purchase. Meaning your customers no longer have to see a product (not tagged), go to your profile, click your website link in your bio and browse through all your products to find the one they saw in your post (this is effort, right?)
Why Do You Need Instagram Shopping?
Instagram have shown they are prioristing Instagram Shopping by adding the shopping tab on the main menu (bottom of your Instagram), they have allowed the shopping tab to be used on all it’s formats and created a bespoke shopping “explore” tab, meaning you can browse products easily and quickly. It really is social’s very own Amazon!
Currently, “in-app” checkout is only available in the US, but this is likely to be rolled out pretty soon here in the UK. In-app checkout means your customers can tap your product tag and purchase your products directly within Instagram, again making the whole sale process super quick and easy.
